Winter damage can cause the leaf problems you describe, but so can root rot from overly wet soils. I'd prune away the affected foliage and stems. Rhodies develop new growth and flower buds for next spring's floral display during the summer months. Pruning it back now will encourage flowering next spring. Best wishes with your rhododendron! |
