bright red / orange beetles devastated our lily garden . any advice on destroying them as they eat twice in the summer season

Those red lily beetles are very destructive! You can control them with a neem oil based product such as Rose Defense. Be sure to apply according to label directions. Although it is called Rose Defense it works on lots of landscape plants against lots of insects - lily beetles are one of the insects it controls. Hope you get control of those pesky insects!
