|That can happen if you cut the lawn too low or if you take off more than one third of the length of the blades when you mow. When the lawn gets high it shades and protects the lower parts of the blades from the summer sunshine. Taking the blades down by too much exposes the otherwise shaded grass parts to the sun which can burn it. Your lawn will look sad for a week or two but it should recover.
