|Viburnums are best pruned after they have finished flowering - usually in early summer. You can shorten any overly long branches by cutting them back to the rest of the shrub, or you can reduce the overall size of the shrub by pruning back by about one third. Don't prune back more than that or you'll stress your viburnum. If you need to reduce the size more than by one third, do it over a 2-3 year period. Enjoy your garden!
