|You can prune your iris, daylilies and morning glories back after frost nips the top and they die down naturally. If you usually prune your roses back and then place rose cones over them to protect them from the winter weather, wait until after your first frost and then prune them back. Once your plants have experienced a frost they will go into dormancy and you can safely prune them back.
