How can I keep weeds out of my flower and vegetable garden?

A thick layer of mulch will help keep weed seeds from growing. After planting your veggies and flowers, spread a 3" layer of compost or other organic material over the soil. I go a little further and lay several thicknesses of newspaper on the ground and then cover with mulch. At the end of the growing season you can work this into your garden to help enrich the soil. Best wishes with your garden!
