I live in South East MI. Can Hibiscus be planted in the ground in my zone or should I keep it a patio plant and bring them in for the cold months?

There are two commonly grown hibiscus: tropical hibiscus (glossy leaves) and hardy hibiscus (dull green leaves often called Rose of Sharon). Tropical hibiscus is not winter hardy in your gardening region and will need to be taken indoors in the fall. Hardy hibiscus will be happy outdoors all winter long but if it is in a container, you need to either bury the container in the garden or insulate it in some other way so the roots do not freeze solid during the winter months. Best wishes with your hibiscus.
