|My cabbage seems to have some type of ash on it and throughout it. Any ideas? Also, once it is harvested, do I pull it up and start fresh next year?

|I can't tell without looking at the plant if it is developing a fungal disease or if you're seeing an insect population. Try washing or wiping it off to see if the removes the coating. Cabbage is an annual. Once you harvest the heads the roots of the plant will die and should be removed from the garden. Start with fresh seeds or transplants next year.
