What is the best way to get better drainage in a raised bed? |
Raised beds, by their very nature, usually drain well. If your soil is clayey or compacted and it hasn't been amended with organic matter lately, I'd sure recommend it. Spread 4-5 inches of compost, aged manure, shredded leaves, rice hulls, or whatever organic matter might be readily available in your area. Dig it into the soil to loosen the soil and help it drain a little faster. Best wishes with your raised bed. |
