Milorganite is usually applied in the early spring and again in the fall when temperatures are cool. It tends to heat up after it has been applied and watered in, which might affect your lawn if summer temperatures are high. If you want to apply it to your lawn now, apply no more than about a half an inch of the product and be sure to water it in well so it works its way down to the roots and soil surface rather than sitting on top of the grass. Applying in this way should not burn your lawn.
