What vines (aside from bougainvillea) are able to withstand the summer heat of a west facing block wall?

Cotoneaster, Carolina Jessamine and Trumpet Vine will all grow in hot places providing they are not directly against the block wall (which can radiate too much heat). If you provide a trellis about a foot in front of the wall so there's good air circulation, these, plus Lilac Vine (Hardenbergia violacea), will perform well in your landscape.
