|I have a lilac tree close to my house and front walkway. Can this be trimmed down and when is the best time to trim it? It is growing too big and I want to contain a little. Is this possible without killing it?

|Mid summer is not the best time to prune your lilac tree but you can reduce its size in the early fall or you can wait until immediately after it has finished flowering next year and then prune it back. You can actually remove about one third of the live growth on a lilac tree without doing any harm. Best wishes with your landscape.
