Your Musella lasiocarpa is a Chinese Yellow Banana and grows well in part sun, in rich, moist soil. Find a garden spot that gets morning sun but shade from hot afternoon sunshine and water it regularly. It's a tropical plant but will grow in USDA gardening zones 6-11 (you are in zone 8 so it will be winter hardy in your region). It blooms when it is about 2 years of age and the flower lasts for about 6 months. Amend the planting bed with organic matter (compost or peat moss) prior to planting and plant at the same soil level as it was growing in the nursery pot. It will grow into a well behaved clump as it matures. Enjoy your new plant!
