I just planted some purple basil that already has flowers on it. Are the flowers edible as well as the leaves? Thanks, Bernie

The flowers are edible but whether or not you eat them you really should pinch or cut off the flowering stems. If you leave them on the plants they will develop seeds and your basil plants will die. So, keep those flower stems cut off as soon as you recognize that they are developing. Best wishes with your basil.
