My petunias look wimpy; I've lost most of them; the wave petunias that I planted in the soil all died, and the one in Miracle Gro water saver soil hasn't grown much nor is it blooming now. Help! |
Summer heat and humidity can take a toll on petunias but they usually perk up a little later in the summer. It's important to water them on a regular basis but to keep water off the foliage. Petunias will bloom more readily if you pinch back the growing tips on each stem and if you pinch off the dead flowers, along with some of the stem. Each time you pinch the plant back it will respond by growing two new stems and lots of new flowers. Try pinching your plants back to promote flowering. Best wishes with your petunias! |
