My watermelons get a rot on them. what can I do to stop this?

If the rot is on the bottom of the melon, try placing a wooden shingle or board beneath the melon to keep it high and dry. A bed of straw beneath each melon is an alternative to the board or shingle. The idea is to keep the melon from making direct contact with the moist soil.
