|i have a lime tree but it is only 10 inches tall and was planted about 2 years ago i dont know what kind of lime it is but it is very thorny(large) question is why is it not growing. it has plenty of water and a fertilizer spike.
|Key lime trees develop more thorns than other types of trees but what you describe sounds more like a sucker from the roots than an actual lime tree. Is it possible the original tree died down one winter and the sucker grew in its place? If so, it will never produce fruit for you and the best course of action is to dig out your existing tree and replace it with a healthy new lime tree. Best wishes with your new tree.
