You've chosen a very adaptable plant, with no particular insect or disease problems. It's native to your area so it will be happy in regular garden soil and will tolerate your weather without any stress at all. The only potential problem might be a root rot if the soil doesn't drain quickly or if it's in a low pocket where irrigation or rain water might collect. Aside from this, your staghorn sumac should be trouble free. Enjoy!
