|You can rototill the area and rake the grass and roots out or you can use a vegetation killer such as Round Up to control the grass. Once the grass is dead (Round Up travels to the roots and will kill them, as well), you can dig or rototill the debris and rake it up. Round Up does not travel in the soil so you can replant right away. Best wishes with your project!
