one azalea plant is growing great the other (2' away) is not doing well. red leaves and spindly looking

Reddish leaves can indicate a nutrient deficiency. I'd feed the azalea with a specialized Rhododendron and Azalea plant food, in amounts as recommended on the label for the size of your plant. I hope it perks up soon~
