I have deer feeding on my arborvitae in the winter and small animals eating all of the hostas around my house in the Adirondacks, what do you suggest to plant to keep them away?

You can try some of the nasty tasting repellants such as Liquid Fence, Ropel, or Deer Away. You apply these products to the leaves of your plants. Or, you can place a barrier between the animals and your plants. Chicken wire fencing will keep rabbits out of the garden; taller, sturdier fences will keep out deer. Hope you can outsmart those critters!
