I have seen Mosquito Plants advertised that say they repel mosquitoes with their scent. Is this true? If so how many would I need outside to keep mosquitoes away?

These plants contain substances like the oil citronella. When the leaves are brushed or crushed they give off a scent. Several other plants contain this oil too.

Technically they do repel mosquitoes from the plant itself. However, a few plants around the patio will not keep mosquitoes off you and your garden party guests!
