|I have a clump birch that isn't doing too well. When I touched the branches this spring, a white power fell off. Could this be the problem? If so, what is it?
|A white powder could indicate a fungal disease (called powdery mildew), which can cause the leaves to curl and drop off prematurely. Before treating with a fungicide such as Banner or Daconil, take a sample of the affected leaves/stems to your local cooperative extension office for positive diagnosis.
