What is a good time to plant Centipede grass seed? Can it be planted right into an existing centipede lawn?

Centipede is a warm season turfgrass. Wait until the danger of frost is past and the weather has turned warm for best results. Early April would be a good time in your area. Keep the seedlings moist with frequent watering until they are well established. Then gradually wean them back to twice a week watering.

Centipede can be seeded into an existing turf. However, if you already have Centipede, you're probably better off encouraging it to grow and fill in the bare spots...unless of course the bare spots are very large. Even then, plugging turf in from denser areas is an option.
