can I transplant an orange tree in august? also my lemon tree have flowers can i transplant it? bout are in pot they was purchase in. |
You can plant your new trees now. Just be careful with watering and try not to disturb the roots when you plant them. I dig a hole just slightly wider but no deeper than the pot. Set the pot in the hole to make sure it fits well with only a few inches of empty space all around and with the soil level the same as in the pot. Then gently turn the pot on its side and slide out the rootmass and set it into the hole. Fill in around the roots with soil and gently tamp it down, then water the tree to help settle the soil and remove any air pockets. After both trees are planted make watering wells or watering basins beneath each by mounding up a few inches of soil in a circle, about 12" away from the trunk. Fill the basin with water, allow to drain, then fill it a second time. Watering in this way will concentrate the water directly over the rootmass and allow it to trickle down, wetting the entire root system. Water once each week and your citrus tress will be happy. Best wishes with your new trees. |
