Earthworms don't like the heat generated by a working compost pile so don't expect them to show up any time soon. There are lots of other beneficials, though, such as microbes, that do like a warm compost pile and you can introduce them by simply adding a shovelful of garden soil to your compost pile. As they find food to eat they will multiply and help decompose the organic matter you toss into your compost pile.
