What you describe sounds like heat stress or water stress and perhaps some sunburn mixed in. Your particular crepe myrtle may not be getting the water it needs or is more sensitive to the heat than others in the neighborhood. Examine your watering practices: with each application, water should soak deeply through the root zone, about 2 feet deep. If you run drip irrigation for short periods or sprinkle with a hose, that isn't enough water. A soil probe (any long pointed piece of metal) will help you determine how far water has soaked. It moves easily through wet soil but stops when it hits hard soil. Also, burnt leaves may indicate overfertilization. I hope this info helps.
