Yellowing of the roots of your sod can indicate over-watering, poorly draining soil, or a need for fertilizer. Wasp killer has an oil base and it will burn the tender leaves of your lilac. Wait until this winter to remove the wasps nest. It will be empty and not pose a threat to you. Next spring watch carefully to make sure the wasps do not return to build another nest. If you see the beginnings of a new nest, hose it down with a strong stream of water from the hose. Repeat if necessary until the wasps decide to find another place to build their nest. Good luck with your landscape.
