If you can sink the pots into the ground now, they'll overwinter just fine for you. If not, you may want to purchase insulated pots or insulate your own by wrapping them with bubble wrap, setting them in a large box and dumping pine needles or shredded leaves over the top. The problem with keeping plants in containers that are exposed to the elements all winter long is that the roots can freeze solid and die. I'd vote for sinking the pots into the ground until your berries can be permanently planted in the ground. |
