Our front yard is blah. I have added a tree or two and some bushes. As much as I would like grass, a desert landscape just seems better. Is there a way to make the yard more attractive than such an eye sore?

The University of Arizona has a publication I think you'll find helpful when you plan your landscape. If you choose plants that flower at different times you can have a well-orchastrated design with something in bloom at most times of the year.
