I'm going to be putting in a new lawn in a few weeks.I have just dirt now. There are weeds starting to come up and my question is how do I kill the weeds before I put the loam down and my seed.

You can hand pull the weeds or you can use a vegetation killer such as Round Up. Round up will travel down into the roots of the weeds but it won't move in the soil and it will degrade in about 10 days. If you use Round Up now to kill the weeds you'll be able to hoe them down and rake them away, then prepare your soil for planting. Best wishes with your new lawn!
