My two tomato plants are in pots. Both of them have developed a powdery substance on the leaves which then causes them to turn brown and die. I keep cutting them off and fertilize and water regularly. Can you help? Thanks.

What you describe sounds like the fungal disease called powdery mildew. If your plants are not fully involved you may be able to control the disease with applications of Safer Garden Fungicide. Be sure to apply according to label directions. Hope your plants recover!
