Outside of trapping the moles, the only way to protect your plants is to dig them up, line the planting hole with hardware cloth and then replant them. The moles cannot dig through the roots and kill your plants if you put a protective barrier between the roots and the moles. Lots of gardeners do this for their bulbs, too, and it helps keep them from being destroyed by digging critters. Hope it works well for you, too.
