|I purchased several rose bushes from home depot and the gardeing person sold me what was supposed to be large long lasting blooms and they die within 1 day of opening. Is there a way to train them into nice cut long lasting flowers?

|I think the summer heat is keeping the roses from showing off their blooms for extended periods of time. You'll find the flowers your roses produce in the spring and fall months will last several weeks because the weather is cooler and the sun not quite so intense. And, as your shrubs mature and develop extensive root systems they will have more energy reserves and will be able to hold those blooms longer. Enjoy your roses.
