I'm looking for a native evergreen shrub to use as a border along my driveway and sidewalk. I hate juniper and want something w/nice leaves. |
How about growing salal, evergreen huckleberry, red huckleberry or tall Oregon grape? All can be pruned into an attractive hedge and all produce seasonal flowers and berries. A non-native plant to consider is Nandina, also called heavenly bamboo. It can be trimmed into a hedge and remains evergreen. There are dwarf varieties, if you want something under 5' in height. |
