Recent drought and heat wave has damaged or killed an area of St Augustine turf at the curb. When is the best time to take up the old turf and put down new sod and are there any pitfalls o avoid?

Wait until the weather cools this fall, then dig and remove the dead turf. Before resodding, work some compost into the soil. It will help hold moisture next summer and will get your new sod off to a good start by providing a rich, loose planting area. Good luck with your new lawn.
