I'd like to grow a holly tree in my front yard which faces west. I'm intrested in a conical shaped female holly tree or shrub that will produce berries. I need a tree that mature to less than 10 feet. There are several hollies planted in my neighborhood so I don't need a male for pollination. Can you please provide the name and a source?

American Holly (Ilex opaca) has a pyramidal shape. The cultivar 'Cardinal' is slow growing, and 'Croonenburg' is a compact tree that bears heavily. Either of these might suit your purpose. A local source is Shooting Star Nursery, 444 Bates Rd., Frankfort, KY 40601. (502) 223-1679.
