I live in Midwest WI. I have a corner in my yard that I want to plant a shrub or small tree. Problem is either it is under water or signicantly dry. Which tree or shrub do you suggest that will tolerate wet and or dry soil?

There are some plants that will tolerate dry soils (usually sold as drought tolerant) and there are some plants that will tolerate soggy soils - but I'm not aware of any shrubs that will tolerate seasonal dry and wet soils. A possible exception might be a native shrub. The University of Wisconsin Extension has published the following brochure with lists of native plants along with the conditions they will adapt to: http://clean-water.uwex.edu/pu...

I hope this publication helps you find just the right shrub for your garden.
