my japanese maple has some new branches w/ large leaves. what should i do? also, it did very badly in our unusually hot summer (bham,al) -does it need any special care, like feed it now- or just let it winter. thanks |
Wait until this fall or in early winter, after your maple looses its leaves and goes into dormancy, then prune out the branches that produced the larger leaves. Cut them all the way back to remove them completely. At that time you can do some overall pruning if you want to thin out the canopy or shorted the branches on your tree. Don't feed your maple until it begins new growth in the spring. Best wishes with your maple. |
