How far do I cut it back at the end of the summer, and how? |
Don't cut your peonies back until a hard frost kills the tops. This will signal the roots to go into dormancy and you can safely cut away the dead foliage. If you prune the tops back while they are still green your plants will respond by developing more leaves and stems - which you'll have to cut off the plant after the first frost. So the best approach is to wait and cut everything down after your first frost. |
