|Sunflowers are summer annuals and they will die when frost arrives. They won't make suitable houseplants because they need at least 8 hours of direct sunshine. Next year start your sunflower seeds in late April or early May and they will flower for you by the end of July. Basil is a tender plant so it won't be happy outdoors when nighttime temperatures drop below about 50F. They will grow well indoors in a bright windowsill so bring yours indoors before temperatures drop too low.
