Where is the best place to plant the bush and how do I best care for it? Seems mine may have died.

Butterfly bushes grow best in full sunshine, in well draining soils. They're easy to care for, needing only annual pruning and a deep soaking once each week. Too much water, or soil that remains wet for extended periods of time can rot the roots. After they finish flowering you can prune them back hard. Since they bloom on the new growth of the season, pruning them back will encourage a new flush of growth which will flower again for you later in the season. Hope this information helps.
