Where there was a bloom, under the green part of the petal that spreads out, there is a round ball, like the stem grew into a ball, it is green like the stem. What is this? |
What you describe sounds like rose rosette which is a disease transmitted by thrips. It is sometimes called witch's broom - when the leaves are also affected. At this point I would prune away the infected stem where the odd shaped flower is attached. With any luck that will control the problem. Hope so! |
