|I'd cut the spend flowers off, along with some of the stem. Just cut the stem down to where a pair of leaves are growing. The plant will produce two new flowering stems. Some chrysanthemums are perennials. Although the tops will die down in the winter, the roots will remain alive and new stems will emerge from the roots in the spring time.
