is it too late to trim my potted ficus on my back porch? It is quite out of shape as I have not trimmed it often. can you give me some guidelines? Mary

You can trim ficus most any time of the year. It's easiest to keep it trimmed by pruning it back a little each year but an overgrown ficus can be pruned back by as much as one third without harm. You can shorten the branches and even remove some of the branches if you cut all the way back to where it emerges from a main stem. If you're not sure just where to cut, start slowly - you can always take off more at a later date but you can't replace something you've pruned off. Hope this helps direct you!
