We planted 2 maples tis spring: one Japanese and one full size. They have both done very well until the last 2 weeks when their leaves are going brown and crumpled instead of red. Pl adv. |
It sounds like a water stress issue, or a response to hot summer weather. Either is possible with young trees because their leaves are tender. As your maples mature the leaves won't be quite so susceptible to wind or sunburn. Make sure they are getting adequate water - one deep soaking per week (two if the weather is really hot and your soil drains extremely well). By next year they should be well established and better able to endure the summer weather. Best wishes with your maples. |
