Coffee grounds are a good organic amendment, adding bulk to the soil and helping to loosen it. They also contain a trace amount of nitrogen. But, they are not very efficient at acidifying the soil. You can use peat moss if you want to acidify the soil. You can use coffee grounds as an organic amendment in any garden bed, including your hydrangea bed. Best wishes with your garden!
