I was given a small root of a fig tree. I potted it and it doubled in size very quickly. So I planted it in a dry are with good soil and mulch and its stopped growing! Now what?

I'm not sure what happened to cause your fig tree to stop growing. It might be that it is suffering a little transplant shock and is busy trying to establish its root system in its new home. As long as it looks otherwise healthy I think it will be fine. Just continue to give it good care and you should see new growth next spring. Best wishes with your fig tree!
