How do I plant corn? How many should I plant, How much water odes it need? |
Corn stalks usually produce two or three ears of corn (depending upon variety) so you can use that as a guide for how many ears of corn you'd like at harvest time (and how much room you have to grow the corn). These plants are wind-pollinated so should be planted in blocks rather than rows. Plant the seeds about an inch deep and 10-12 inches apart. Corn needs deep irrigation once or twice a week during the summer months. The roots are large and deep to help anchor the stalk so flood irrigation is the best way to keep the corn happy. You'll find more information on the back of the seed packet. Enjoy your harvest! |
