Is there anything you can do to compensate for low sun on a winter garden. Does extra fertilizer help to improve the fruit or am I wasting my time? Thanks

Extra fertilizer won't substitute for full sunshine. There's not much you can do to encourage better growth other than to provide as much sun and as much warmth as physically possible. You might try mulching over the bare soil to help hold in the heat. Sometimes laying black plastic on the ground around the plants will help, as well. Next year plant your winter garden in a sunnier spot or in containers that you can place in the warmest, sunniest spot in your landscape.
